Brilliant - I do like the quarter lights, wind up windows and remote gear change

And, on Monday, you can deal with all the new rust spots which have developed as a result of taking a BMC 1100/1300 out for a winter weekend driving :?

Don't worry - I've sorted the replacement.

Oh unbelievable. It made Hydrolastic redundant overnight - the ride was superb. It's what the sorry Allegro should have been.

But Alfa made the same mistake as BL, it was not a hatchback (well not until 1981). If you wanted a hatch version you had to buy the Giardinetta estate or the Sprint. I had a Sprint after my short stint in an MGB. It was the first fast FWD I had. Great noise and great handling, except when the rear discs locked up under hard braking :o

Twiggy “You never forget your first Mini” advert for the Mini 30 SE in 1989

[with some artistic license, as we know her first mini was an automatic not a Cooper, and her second was a Mk2 W&P]
