Hey folks,

I'm curious what car to build next. I have a '61 traveller body, that got a new shell some years ago. I also bought a '61 saloon to get all the parts for my traveller. I would like to build one of them with a 1098 engine to get a nice cruising car for my family to go on classic car meets, but also would like to restore one car bone stock, with all the period items, like brass hinges.
Now I'm in a kind of dilemma: What car should be the stock one? The traveller with internal tank is much more rare, but the saloon has the original matching engine.
Now my question is: Is it worth keeping the matching 848 engine in a common 61 Mk1, or may it be acceptable to replace the engine with a 1098 and use the engine for a bone stock traveller?

I think I need some moral advice.

Kind regards from Germany,
Niclas

Do what YOU want to do would be my answer. :D Engines can easily be pulled back out again.

Absolutely what Pete said - we're not talking about Le Mans winning Ferraris, so just build the projects you want with the parts you want and don't worry too much about it.

:D

I would agree it is your choice.....but the internal tank Traveller is certainly a very rare early Mini variant.

My brother found a 1961 internal tank Traveller a while back and its restoration story + photos are here on the Mini Traveller/Countryman Register website:-

Geoff's Traveller is one that I'm using as inspiration/reference for my own restoration.
