New mini 850
I just bought this mini that has been sitting for forty years as it was going to be powered by a aircraft starter motor but after removing the motor the project was stalled. I was told it was a 64 850 but it has a fe number 53579 and many early parts but no serial tag. I hope to redo it as a fun driver and would really like to know what year it is. Any info would be great.

That's a very early car Mike.
My guess is '59 or '60. small drain holes on the roof and no recess for the rear glass...

Looks like a great project. Do you have any more photos of the interior and under the bonnet?

its one of those cartrige starters, offers great accelerations, but you have to reload every ten feet.....mk1 wrote:Cracking find!

Nice, set of Cosmics on it as well, as others have said get it safe and leave the patina

Re: New mini 850
I suspect the starter they were planning on using would most likely be a GTS (gas turbine starter). Effectively, a very small jet turbine, used to start the much bigger aircraft turbine. They often had an integral gearbox, which provided a good point to take the drive from to power a car. It would make an interesting project
