Wow...….so this is possibly the very last official Cooper S ( discarded ) shell...…..
I'd be interested to know what car currently wears the registration that was originally on this shell...…..

We'll just put this particular rumour to bed shall we. That is not the shell of the last Mk 3 S, it is too early for that.

£1200 reserve not met. I really don't understand that. You can't do anything with it unless you use the shell if you already happen to have a Mk3 logbook, and as a Mk3 shell for restoring it's really not that great. It could only ever be an 'S' again if you had the a full identity on SORN, but in that case you might as well buy yourself a decent shell??

It's not a bad buy for 1200 quid. It's not that bad - it will need a full floor but they all do and it doesn't look horrifically rotten. You could certainly have it all sewn up to a decent standard for £3000 all in if you DIY'd it. It would be a good basis for a Cooper S lookalike with some good bits and a suitable 1970 Mini 1000 V5.

Richard Thorne also stored the very first Mark III S built, the white RRX car restored by Mini Machine. I used to store cars down there in the early 2000's and it was there along with James Hunt's 450SEL 6.9.
