The right hand tank neck is clearly photo shopped in in the pictures where it is there.

I wonder if he will actually put in a hole and tank before the buyer turns up?

Car looks to be Aconite, which was not available on S models.

Also if the car does not have the engine in, as stated, why is it so low at the front?

All the minis I have ever had go straight up in the air as the engine came out, wet or dry.

Don't think the RH tank is photoshopped, that would rate pretty high on the cock-ometer if it was!! Looks like he's mixed up two sets of photos by mistake, pictures of the Mini 1000 with the single tank and later pictures once he's hoiked the engine out, removed the speedo and chucked in the RH tank. Either way he's using a Mk3 S chassis plate as the basis for the car, which in reality could belong to another car.

I think it is Black Tulip as it has red (Geranium) seats. Either way neither purple colour was available when Mk3S's were built. I guess he's lucky the heritage cert does not state the colour, or much else.

What a pity another Mk3 1000 in a rare colour will be lost.

What’s really odd is the fact there isn’t a registration number. Could be innocent but ... here’s a scenario..

I have in my possession a genuine Mk1 Austin Cooper or S chassis plate. No idea where it came from but probably in with a job lot of parts. Now, I could apply for a Heritage certificate, as Mr Ives-Keeler has done, get a random Mk1 shell, an S engine and brakes and then sell as a Mk 1 Cooper project !!

Back to the past. Strong provenance, first registered 1972, original colour Blaze orange, ex-works BMC 1969 car and was used in 1968 Duckham Road Race Series car 12 - say honest to God

Alan

I'd describe it as a quite nice, reasonable spec '72 1275 GT with some interesting 80's rally history.

To add further confusion to the actual story of this car “original colour Blaze “ was blaze available in 68 ?
I thought it was a 70’s colour.
Maybe that’s the original colour of the 72 shell !!

Agreed Stuart, why do all interesting run-of-the-mill Minis get turned into Cooper cars. Where have all the Supers gone? Fake Cooper S cars every one :(

On the subject of Minis and Cooper specification cars and that’s all they were, the ADO16 cars are now are being faked much more often. Take a look at these examples. The first one is a Mk1 1275 car that the original engine (Cooper S block) and the N Ireland (County Antrim) BIA 1690 registration have been removed. I do not know where that NIL registration came from. The other car has a 1968 identity and a post 1971 shell.

Not only does it have a 'now you see me, now you don't' R/H fuel tank but it is fitted with standard Mini wheels and hub caps.

He must have fitted the RH tank before even unloading it off the trailer mustn't he? It doesn't appear to have moved between the "no tank" and "RH tank fitted" photographs!
Goodness knows where he got all his Cooper/Cooper S logbooks from but he's had to buy a lot of standard Minis to attach them to.......
SUCH a bonus to him that the Heritage Certificate doesn't record the colour scheme

He's got some nerve hasn't he ?
But, that early MK3 shell coupled with that heritage certificate and thick flanged engine, someone will re-create a Cooper S that will fool most people.....
Seems to happen regularly.
