Thanks for the feedback to you all, good to see some of you that I met at Beaulieu checking it out. Still lots to do, but plenty of motivation and parts building up in the garage ready for fitting.

I am back in the u.k over Christmas and am in the process of organizing a visit it Leeds to see the original car. Really enjoying the research, learning heaps. :D

Re the spark model, I have used this as a base for my signs- but have found several errors when referring to the period photos I have. That being said I only have blurry images of the roof area and none at all from the rear.

So if anyone reads this and has images please post, it all helps!!

Cheers
Mike :D

Anyone know what eventually happened to the No.89 World Cup 1970 Mini entry.....after 1984?

I found this article below from my 1980's Mini Cooper Club Newsletter collection (not sure of exact date).....along with some bargain adverts of the time :D

Saw this car in the flesh the other day.

Was blasting down a country lane in the 970 and came up behind this rather interesting looking red and white mini, couple of flashes of the lights and he pulled over and we spent the rest of the morning comparing notes and talking minis, would have been a lot harder if I was in the Peugeot!

Incidentally I do drive my minis a lot, and I find it really opens doors to conversations with interesting people, often there is a "oh yes I have and old such-and-such under my bench you can have, or I know and old bloke with a Cooper S that he wants to sell etc etc...

Anyway back on topic, I was well impressed with Mike's car, it really is beautiful, and a credit to his perseverance and skills.
Makes a change from the Mk1 and 2 rally reps too, not that we have many of those over here.

Might have been a tidy buy in 1980 but I expect he would want a bit more now :!: I am also round the corner, wonder who's car it was.

Its not too many years before that that I got UKP300 for my Fiesta Yellow/Black roof S.

Don't uppose anyone remembers LMF602C around Portsmouth in the late 60s/70.

Cheers, Ian
