Mini Sport Mk1 Side and rear panels

Post by coopersean »

Just seen in the Mini Sport advert in the latest edition of Mini World magazine, that they have introduced a one piece mk1 side panel, and a mk1 rear panel. Anyone seen them yet? Can't see them on the website yet, but sides look expensive at nearly £2000 each.

All made by these people, but all the Mini stuff has disappeared from their web site.

The rear panel was available from Minispares, I don't know if it still is.

The side panels and rear panel have been ‘ re-engineered using original BMC panels that I helped source. The rear panel has the correct rear window aperture pressed. I know they spent a long time getting them correct using a restoration project to get the fitment correct, think the rear panel took half a dozens attempts to get just right.

Thanks for the replies. Sounds hopeful that they will be good quality, but price seems a big hurdle. The Mini Sport advert also states that the panels are heritage approved - I wonder if they could be used in the new mk1 shells?

This one looks to have a Mini Machine reference number.....?

Picture must be wrong as the description says it has a correct width window aperture.

The back panel has certainly been kicking around for a few years now. They are still listed here by Minispares, but are not currently available.

The full side is a totally new panel as Steve says, it is the one used by Heritage in their current run of MK 1 shells. The tooling was paid for & owned by MiniSport as I understand it.

Think that's mk2 panel which needs the rear window adaptors welded in.

Looks like the Facebook ad below has a set of sides and a rear panel - look good to my eyes.
