this is maybe more of a question for passengers.

I'm just wondering out loud here, but if I had a 'concern' about last years route it was that it was perhaps a wee bit long for a day, at around 180 miles. We all managed it, but if anyone in a standard 850 was to do it, they may get a bit of a numb bum  we were 'on the road' from 10am to 5pm

I'm playing about with a possible modified route still using many of the same roads based around Peebles, but perhaps reducing it down to maybe 120 - 140 miles.

Any alternative roads would be as good, if not better, and I'm also thinking of things like fuel stops and lunch options etc.

What would folks views be- 'leave it as is (but in reverse direction)', or 'variety is the spice of life'

It doesn't really make any odds to the time to make up the roadbook / guide, so that's not an issue

I really enjoyed last years run & the distance wasn't to arduous. However, as you suggest, maybe a slight reduction in miles wouldn't be a bad thing.

The length kind of put me off last year as I was going to do it as a day trip. With the travel miles on top I would have done about 350 on the day. I think around 100 miles is good, 50 before lunch and 50 after lunch.
Who knows I might get to 5000 posts by the time all the crap is over!

My alternative route is looking at around 125 miles, if my 'map my drive' plan is to be believed, with aprox. equal distance before and after lunch.

Hope we can tempt you up this year, Surf.

I see the Thistle run has been canceled, it's size being a significant factor in the current climate.

Assuming everyone is well, I hope this might mean one or two others can join our smaller event
