I've been having a bit of bother with my modern (09 plate) clubman with a weird thing where the cooling fan comes on immediately it starts and then runs on for 3 or 4 minutes after I turn it off.
'tinternet threw up loads of theories as to possible causes, so I thought I'd join a modern MINI forum to ask, and described the full scenario, and folks there may have had similar issues and or suggest a fix.
I go one reply telling me: "You may be asking on the wrong car forum - this is a third generation MINI forum for cars from 2014, rather than the 2nd generation like your 2009 clubby."
Who'd have thought they were so different? Maybe the MINI is not that different to OUR cars after all...…
Did you sort it? If it follows BMW practice they'll be two temp sensors one which feeds the readout to the instrument pack and one which feeds the fans etc.
Not that I want to further add to the deterioration of this fine forum by discussing MINIs, but I used to own a 2009 Gen2 JCW and had fan problems. See my (yoshac) post here with a hack to work around the problem: https://www.northamericanmotoring.com/f ... ost4387895
All BMW MINI 1st & 2nd Gen models from 2001 to 2013 have R-series model numbers assigned to them, a legacy of the Mini's original development with Rover Group.
All 3rd Gen models 2014 onwards now have BMW F-series model numbers assigned. Below you will find a table to help identify what series of MINI you have: https://neominiparts.co.uk/mini-models- ... d-23-w.asp
