Forum rules

For Sale Section Rules

PLEASE NOTE! Postings in this section are deleted automatically after they have not been looked at for 30 days.

1) This section is for advertising items that you have for sale. Not for the discussion of listed items. If you wish to debate the pro's & Con's of any item listed, please start a new topic in the appropriate section.

2) If you have items for sale on ebay, please post them in the appropriate section. This section is NOT for the advertisement of your ebay auctions.

3) If you have a number of items to sell, post them in a single ad marked "Multiple Parts" or similar. DO NOT post many individual advertisements as this forces everyone else's listings down the page.

4) It is expected that any items advertised on the forum are described fairly & honestly. It is the duty of the seller to ensure that this is the case.

5) Items listed for sale should WHEREVER POSSIBLE* be offered with a purchase price, not asking for bids from members. If you wish to auction your item to the highest bidder I would suggest you use ebay & pay the associated fees.

6) This section is offered as a free service to enthusiasts. Any deals made are between the buyer & seller only. The MK1 forum takes no part in any transaction & the appearance of any item in this section is not a recommendation. I strongly suggest that both buyers & sellers are happy to proceed with a deal before any money or goods change hands.

7) It expected that members contribute something to the forum before posting for sale advertisements. Any Adverts placed by members with a post count lower than 5 will be deleted.

8) The advertising of or soliciting for VIN tags, log books or any other vehicle identification documentation without it's associated vehicle is expressly forbidden.

9) If a moderator considers any postings in this section to violate either the spirit or word of these simple requests the MK1 Forum reserves the right to delete any posts without prior warning or explanation.

10) The posting of items for sale on the MK1 forum constitutes explicit acceptance of these simple rules.

It would be much appreciated if sellers could leave the sale price on adverts after the item has been sold. This acts as a good measure of current value for other sellers.

* In some cases it may not be possible for the seller to list items with a sale price. In this case, listings will be reviewed on a case by case basis by a moderator. The moderators decision will be final.

Probably the wrong time of year to be selling a car but I've decided to let my Jap auto go and address yet another looming midlife crisis... I need a Lotus Europa or Esprit / Marcos GT / TVR / Jensen Interceptor / GT40 in my life!

I bought it from an importer of motorbikes and classic cars near Reading in October 2016 with the intention of doing an early '70s W&P style homage, it started out as an export spec Mayfair auto with 13'' steel wheels but whilst in Japan it had been backdated with 10'' alloys, lowered suspension, a centre instrument binnacle, Rokee style dash, woodrim steering wheel, early badges, grille and period wing mirrors etc. I immediately ditched the awful velour trim and fitted brand new black vinyl seats and doors panels, replaced the existing alloys with a brand new set of 6''x10'' Cosmics and Yoko A008s from John Brown Wheels and fitted a new Mk2 Cooper grille with surrounds. The shell is as solid as they come (this being the main reason I bought it) the paintwork is good overall, there are some scratches and blemishes but there is no rot anywhere. I put around a 1,000 miles on it until February this year when the auto box started playing up, it won't engage reverse gear for some reason and I've been told by John at Guessworks in Rugby that it might be just the cable which needs adjusting but it could be the bands inside the box. At this point the MOT ran out and I SORN'ed the car hoping to get it sorted, I was all set to have Rod Taylor at Southam build a 1293 or 1340 with a manual box to drop into the car and get Paul Preston in Market Harborough to repaint the shell in a suitable W&P colour, but the above mentioned craving for something else has overtaken things somewhat. It is still drivable as the forward gears work fine, the air-con also works fine but a few months ago the window winding mechanism in the driver's door broke a cog and the needle in the fuel gauge is stuck on half full. Aside from these issues, having a solid shell etc it would make a great blank canvas for someone wanting to drop another engine and box in (or fix the auto box). With this in mind I'm asking £3750 ovno, the car has been garaged throughout my ownership and has some history (mostly in Japanese) with its original handbook, the V5C is in my name with one previous owner, PM me for my phone number if interested. A quick painless sale would be appreciated as I've already been mucked about by two people who made arrangements to view but never showed up, additional photos can be emailed on request.

Cheers,

Nidge

Yes I did, I used double sided foam sticky tape which came in a roll, bought from Amazon. It was only really a temporary fix and the trim sits 'proud' of the door frame. Normally they would be fixed to the door frame by pop rivetted clips (available from Minispares I believe). Hope that helps ;)
