It will probably end up in somebody's private collection :( hidden away from all but a
chosen few! like most of the cars of this ilk.

Actually, having looked again, does anyone else suspect it's a later shell?

Somebody mentioned that (maybe on a FB post), but didn't provide any clues. Can't imagine a shell swap would be very straightforward, with all the Radford mods including taillights. Nothing is impossible, though.

;) Some people are buying paintings, others are buying collector cars.
Money on the BANK is not an option so buy stones, paintings or classic cars.

It could end up as a display at a Hard Rock Cafe.

I'm still sticking to my $150,000 estimate. This car is not Lenons Rolls Phantom with a one off paint job or a '60's Aston. It is a coach built Mini that would be worth $50,000 with out the pop star conection.

Yep Pete is correct it is not in its original 65 shell. It was reshelled into a 66/67 mk1 shell. The question is was it reshelled when Paul crashed it or was it reshelled in recent times?

This would tie in with the date of the shell!

On 7 January 1967 McCartney's Mini Cooper was involved in an accident on the M1 motorway outside London, as a result of which it was written off. However, the car was being driven by a Moroccan student named Mohammed Hadjij, and McCartney was not present.
Hadjij was an assistant to London art gallery owner Robert Fraser. The pair turned up at McCartney's house on the evening of 7 January, and were later joined by Mick Jagger, Keith Richards, Brian Jones and antiques dealer Christopher Gibbs.

The party decided to head to Jagger's home in Hertfordshire, before moving on to Redlands, Richards' Sussex mansion (and scene of his later drugs bust). McCartney travelled with Jagger in the latter's Mini Cooper, while Hadjij drove in McCartney's Mini.
The two cars became separated during the journey. Hadjij crashed McCartney's Mini and was hospitalised with injuries. The heavily customised car was highly recognisable, so rumours began circulating that McCartney had been killed in the incident.

Did Paul definitely crash it...? The only reference I've ever come across to anything like this was connected with the 'Paul is dead' bullsh*t. Incidents like this were reported regularly in the Beatles monthly mag while the band were still together but in all the issues I've owned I've never seen any reference to it.

No Hadjij crashed the car. He was on a drug run for the boys in the McCartneys Radford, Paul with Jagger in his W&P. Hadjij wrote an article about it himself. The only thing they were worried about after the crash was finding the biscuit tin that the drugs were in so the police wouldn’t find them  I have the article somewhere can’t find it at the min.
