Hang on, I've just googled Wakefield Park. Is it not in the UK? Different rules world wide. My comments were based on UK experience.

A few years ago at an annual event in Swansea one of my other cars, a very rare Ford, had its wing damaged when a gazebo from a club took off in high winds and hit my car - it hadn't been secured well... or at all!

What a stressful time. The organisers wouldn't tell me who the person was, but they were finally hounded down by a Porsche owner whose car took the brunt of the gazebo as well, via an old BMW, where it had landed after my car let it go.

The person's father finally took responsibly but I later realised the phone number he gave me was fake. You may have enjoyed seeing his face when I turned up at a local japanese car dealer in Neath to confront him (thanks to someone who let me know on the QT that he was a foreman there).

Of course being in the Trade he knew a good body shop, but more fool me because it came back a different colour wing with the windscreen plastic panel broken and too much overspray in the engine bay to mention. 5 hours hard work to clean that up! £115 a few days later I found a replacement plastic panel on ebay thank goodness. I then took it to my own trusted body shop and thankfully they sorted it. All at my expense of course.

Look after your pride and joy yourself I say!

It's a load of tosh. You can't simply 'contract' your way out of your common law 'tort' position.

Any organiser of an event that doesn't have his own insurance is a fool, or is being badly advised.
