Wanted: mk1 under hood fresh air vent

Post by Minimat20 »

It's a long shot! Paging all Canadians, Germans, Swiss members etc..

I'm looking for the Mk1 cable operated fresh air vent that mounted behind the grill on export cars, that were fitted with the 'squirrel cage' under the bonnet.

Canadian cars had 3 knobs to play with I think, this valve to let air in, choke, and the water heater valve on the head.

I've never seen one in the flesh, maybe you have? I'd like something that works but will also be interested in broken pits or parts to at least try to fab one up.

Let me know if you come across anything.

Cheers!

Are you looking for the 1959-63 fresh air heater components?

I have the vent control tube (item #7)

Also have one plastic and one steel mesh end cap for the fresh air intake tube which feeds the later fresh air heater (mounted behind the grille).

I spent a very long time looking for one for my 997 Cooper. I eventually found one here
on the forum.
Have a look at Ashley Hinton's website. He makes Smiths Heater parts.
There is a similar part used on Ah sprites, Mg midgets Austin Healey etc.
These could possibly be modified to suit or he could make one that would work.
If you want some photos, Email me and I'll send some to you.
