Forum rules

PLEASE NOTE! Postings in this section are deleted automatically after they have not been looked at for 30 days.

1) This section is for advertising items that you have for sale.

2) If you have items for sale on ebay, please post them in the appropriate section. This section is NOT for the advertisement of your ebay auctions.

3) If you have a number of items to sell, post them in a single ad marked "Multiple Parts" or similar. DO NOT post many individual advertisements as this forces everyone else's listings down the page.

4) It is expected that any items advertised on the forum are described fairly & honestly. It is the duty of the seller to ensure that this is the case.

5) Items listed for sale should wherever possible be offered with a purchase price, not asking for bids from members. If you wish to auction your item to the highest bidder I would suggest you use ebay & pay the associated fees.

6) If I consider any postings in this section to violate either the spirit or word of these simple requests I reserve the right to delete any posts without prior warning or explanation.

7) This section is offered as a free service to enthusiasts. Any deals made are between the buyer & seller only. The MK1 forum takes no part in any transaction & the appearance of any item in this section is not a recommendation. I strongly suggest that both buyers & sellers are happy to proceed with a deal before any money or goods change hands.

8) The advertising of or soliciting for VIN tags, log books or any other vehicle identification documentation without it's associated vehicle is expressly forbidden.

9) The posting of items for sale on the MK1 forum constitutes explicit acceptance of these simple rules.

(10) It is STRONGLY recommended that when paying with Paypal people DO NOT use the "Pay friends" service. This has no buyer protection & if there is an issue you will NOT be able to reclaim your lost money.

Excellent, completing the eco cycle, and they say old cars aren't environmentally friendly. Do you think in 50 years someone will be salvaging a pile of hydrogen cells from the boot of an old Prius and selling them on to weirdos like us ????, Never !

Luckily that scenario won't affect me Robin.....and probably most of us on here :?

No car turns me colder than the sight of a Toyota Pius.

Where's the 'throwing up' emoticon :?:

Just got back from the parts department.

If we all had ADO16's there'd be loads to go around. Mini ones fewer on the ground, or at least what was in the boot of a Morris Minor where most are stored !!

There is not enough to go around so I'll offer on first to request basis. Will let everyone know in next day or so.

I'm sure more will turn up and he will keep them for me, so as and when, I'll be in touch.

Thanks for your interest and sorry I couldnt help everyone out :|

<Dumb Canadian guy question>

How/why are the requirements for 7" lamps different for ADO15 vs ADO16?

Are the US spec' minis the same as UK with regards the lights ?. Do they not use the flashers as side lights or something, hence the headlights are the non window type ?. Probably talking garbage but just a thought, could open up your market for the lamps Andrew.

Hi Robin
No you are not talking garbage...this is a forum where you are able to ask any question....and get a reasonable answer.
First up...LHD have different headlamps.....they dip to the right. Yes, we do use separate flashers.
Cheers

My US (German export) car has twin filament front turn/indicator lamps. One bright filament for indicator/turn signal, and a second dimmer filament for the side/running lights - like the way that the same bulb is used with two filaments in the rear/tail & stop/brake lights. It uses the non-windowed version of the headlights, same as ADO16.

I think I read somewhere that USA export cars were shipped without headlights and batteries fitted, leaving it to the local dealer to source and fit prior to sale. Maybe BMC couldn't source LHD (right dipping) headlamps from Lucas UK?
