Well fancy that. Only half hour from my house and I used to drive past it most days. Never even knew S&A were from this part of the world. It actually looks great in its heyday. Cobbles and clean lines make it look very grand designs Vs the tatty overblown main dealers forecourt it is today. Nice one RS6

That is really sad!

In its hey day that won all sorts of awards & was seen as an example of how British Architects were leading the world. Now it just looks like a run down main dealer hole.

Would be great to see it restored, wouldn't it.

I have a bit of a soft for architecture of this period, but if you think the motortrade haven't looked after it, just think what the bingo halls have done!

there is a great site about lost cinemas - http://www.scottishcinemas.org.uk you can search by area and see what has become of local 'flea pits' and how they were in their heyday- it's a disgrace how we have looked after our recent heritage buildings.

will anyone look at a modern steel framed showroom on an industrial estate with any admiration? nope, they are soulless and disposable, just like their products.

I noticed the tram lines in the road and this is one of the trams that would have passed Stewart & Ardern, they should bring them back!!!

Hmmmmm. as I live and work in Edinburgh I'm not sure I'd agree with bringing back the trams!
