Nice grill

Post by Aginley »

Bought some nice Cooper parts today and amongst them was this grill, I think it looks lovely. It’s definitely old but what do you think it is? Did they produce one like this from factory?

That's a nice original Benelite grille.

I have one on my white car.

They go for VERY stiff money now.

An excellent buy!

How are they meant to be finished ? Are they highly polished Or left dull? It looks like it might of had black on parts of it..

Always thought the raised bits were polished and the lower parts painted Matt black.

Nice finds....

Nippycars have produced a limited number of new Mk1 Benelite grilles @ £525

"Our 9 slat Benelite grille, this has been a labour of love. We have done our very best to get this perfect, and I believe we’ve succeeded.
The aluminium grille bars are exact to the originals, the fixing plates are precise and they are finished with the best quality Anodising available, the spotlamp brackets are also made to original spec which are slightly different to the more available later style grille.
Commonly fitted to early coachbuilt cars and special models such as the Broadspeed and Adam Adamant AA1000, these are virtually impossible to find. We have also made a non spotlamp version which wasn’t available in the day But looks equally as beautiful. These really are a piece of art and would certainly grace the front of any car, coach built or otherwise."

It looks pretty much spot on for an early Benelite (which is a totally different construction to the later - more common - model). AA1000 has the early style as did most Radfords.
