London Mini Quiz

Post by Peter1071 »

Whilst Furloughed in London I set myself the challenge of cycling around and visiting places of note in relation to the Classic Mini. I could have done this from my armchair with a laptop but where's the challenge in that! Some places I went to were obliterated years ago and others still look quite charming.
I took a photo of all of the places I visited and present them here for you to look over and have a guess at their significance. Some easy, some not so. Some are a bit disappointing but I'll include them as it would be a shame to have done a 50 mile round trip with nothing to show for it! I'm sure there are many more places i've missed.

C is John Sprinzell's place in Lancaster Mews. As with all the Mews places I visited, they still look great even though they are now very expensive homes. I did see a few that still looked like workshops from the 1960s.

D is Abbey Road studios where the Beatles would park their Radfords.

J isn't Taurus. I did visit Child's Place but couldn't work out which building could have been their workshop. Here's a photo anyway!

N is the old Speedwell showroom.

I'll spill the beans on the others later today,

Peter

Even I recognize some ;)
L - The Mini Shop London, Hertford Road
M - Mini Spares Centre, Friern Barnet Road
Visited both back then for cheap (compared to NL prices) parts. Nowadays, ordering online is easier, but less fun 8-)

Yes, the old Mini Spares shop is M.I used to go there quite often in the 90s. Now a Police station!

You are close with L, it is Hertford Road, Enfield but not the Mini Shop. I did pass the Mini shop but didn't take a photo. It's now a builder's merchants.
