Can anyone tell me, I thought there was a scene in The Thomas Crowne Affair where our king of cool was driving on mountain roads in a green mini? But watching it recently and there wasn't a mini scene. So either I'm getting mixed up with a beach buggy or the mustang from Bullet.

Is there a 60s film set in the US with a major Hollywood star thrashing round in a mini or have I imagined if completely?

Interesting program to understand something of the Man .. perhaps they should have followed this doc up with the showing of "The Film" as its been a long time since i took a look.

I've got it on dvd but watched it on the box last night, really enjoyed the behind the screens and unused footage, they shot hundreds of hours on 35mm after the actual race. McQueen driving his own 911 and being driven around in the others was nice to see, made me realise how much I still want a 911 of some sort. Maybe one day. The footage of Chad McQueen driving his Dad's 911 along the same roads as in the opening sequence was a really nice touch I thought.

The film itself is still the best evocation of proper sportscar racing in its golden era, it's so beautifully shot and edited in places, particularly the build up where nobody speaks for half an hour except the race commentator.... a real treat....
