Blyton 2020 - URGENT! MESSAGE FOR ALL ATTENDEES.

Post by mk1 »

Right, this is a tricky one. I know that we have asked for people to help with marshalling in the past and a few souls have been kind enough to give us an hour or two, or in one or two very honourable cases a full morning. However the majority of the graft has fallen at the feet of literally 3 or 4 people.

This year, with us running am & pm sessions as well as full days we can expect a lot more cars & people. As a consequence, our previously ramshackle, "it'll be alright on the night" attitude to marshalling will simply NOT be up to the demands of this years event.

I'm therefore getting the message out good and early, PLEASE can we have some volunteers for marshalling?

If you have attended our events in the past & have enjoyed them, please think about giving just an hour to the cause. There is nothing too taxing, just pointing people in the right direction or possibly rattling a collecting bucket under a few peoples noses.

We REALLY do need YOUR help!

Could anyone who is prepared to donate an hour or two to the cause on the day, contact me direct via PM asap so I can begin to draw up some sort of rota. Remember, the more people who volunteer, the less time you will have to commit.

We will only need marshalls from about 7.30am to 1pm so if we could get 24 people to donate an hour we would be well sorted. I usually do the first stint on the gate from 7.30 so you don't need to get up too early

Please don't leave Pete, myself and a couple of other people to do all the running about on the day.

Any offers will be very greatly appreciated.

If we can't get enough people to help we will have to pay to get professional marshalls in, the cost of these will come out of any money raised on the day. We want to do everything we can to avoid having to do this!

Volunteers so far:

Hello Mark,
I am intending to get to Blyton again this year but won’t know for certain until the next week or so.
On the assumption that I get there I would be more than happy to help Marshall.

When my old bike club did track days at Goodwood every rider had to do a marshalling session or nominate someone
to cover that stint and it worked very well
