Received through the post today an old copy of practical classics on Mini Cooper Restoration. This will probably bring tears to some people’s eyes but a full restoration in 1983 came to £446.92

I have redone a few mid 80's "Restorations" & take it from me, £450.00 was too much for most of them.

The idea of a "Restoration" in the 1980's is light years away from what people think of as a restoration today.

It was closer to £4000.

That was the engine cost @ £446.92

Engine = £446.92
Suspension and brakes =£230.41
Bright works and fittings =£319.75
Bodyshell = £290.09

Total for parts = £1,287.17 .... I stand corrected :-)
