Thanks to Forum member Iain...he spotted this nice 64 original Cooper for sale in Perth.

It appears to have the original carpets....not much to see but there are some shots of the carpet.
Are there any Forum members living in or near Perth who could have a look at the car and take some pictures of the interior??

This is a great opportunity for all of us with cars that need grey carpets.....would clarify exactly what the color is.
Will gladly compensate anyone who could help with this quest.

Not sure if any of my pals will be going up to the sale, but I'll ask.

I think Kev knows the car, but whether he has photos, I don't know.

Thanks Al...would be great if some of your friends could verify if the carpets are original...and get some pictures.
Thanks again for responding...hope we can get a good verification of the carpets.
Cheers

Hi Dermott,

I have this piece of carpet from the cross member in a 1962 Smoke grey Cooper. It might reveal its colours better if it has a wash. Happy to send it if it might help.

I have asked a couple of pals going to the sale to take photos - of course, it'll be a bit subjective to lighting / camera / screen etc.

If they can take pictures with a piece of white paper next to it, it can help in colour correction for screens.

The car in the link above clearly has foam backed carpet. While it "looks" original from the front, All ORIGINAL carpet was hessian backed like Dear's sample above.
