Re: 2020 Mk1 Borders Road Run - UNDER REVIEW

Post by Pandora »

The Tontine Hotel is currently closed until the end of April. We've been in touch with them, and will review the viability of the event nearer the time.

Who knows what the government guidance will be by mid- late May, and what the socially responsible thing to do will be.

Until then, I'm conscious that whatever we can do to bring a bit of joy into what's looking like a fairly bleak summer, and even more so for the businesses reliant on tourism, we shouldn't cancel too early unless there is clear need.

Let's see how it goes, but I'd say it's 50 / 50 at best at the moment (and I'm an optimist!)

Will keep you posted

Al

Hi Folks,

It'll come as no surprise that given the ongoing situation across the country, even if current restrictions are loosened by the end of May, it is very unlikely we could in all honesty say even our small run is justified. Even if we could interpret whatever guidance is in place at the time, would it be right for us to do so?

So, along with every other event under the sun, we've made the sad decision to postpone it until further notice. The roads are going nowhere, so let's wait 'till we can really enjoy them.

I sincerely hope we'll be able to run it at some point later in the year.

Kev, Keep the moke seat warm for me! :D

Stay well,

Al

I know that this is really sad news, but we really thought that we didn't have any alternative.

Hope to see everyone later in the year.

Ah well, Today's the day we should have been on the run, but it's a bit overcast here anyway, and yesterday was blowing a proper hoolie. I'd have been soaked and cold in MY moke

I'm checking with Dominic Cummings on suitable dates for the re-scheduled event......

Adam would love a run up to Barnard Castle as his GF lives up that way. Unfortunately, he doesn't think he's going blind, so doesn't feel he should risk driving
