Apparently the shark caused a lot of problems due to planning permission etc etc. But I believe the person that did it died recently, and it is now of importance and can’t be removed!

The first and the original as far as I know is Cadillac Ranch on Route 66 in Wyoming. Tens Caddies were half buried by a bunch of hippies from San Francisco. I remember it being featured in a copy of Hot Car or Street Machine back in the late '70s

Then. The cars didn't look to bad and most were runners when buried

Now. After 45 years the cars are pretty wrecked and regularly change appearance due to graffiti artists

You're right. The shark was installed by Bill Heine, well known as a BBC Radio Oxford presenter for 30 years. He did indeed die of cancer recently. He fought a battle with planners for years to keep the shark which ironically is now considered a local attraction in Headington Oxford and worthy of protection.
