Good Morning,

Does anyone know where newton commercial get any of their vinyls from... I would like to get my front bucket seats upholstered in dark grey/dove grey to match the rest of my interior.

I have been in contact with newton but they have been less than helpful, 'no we don't sell material off the roll, but what is it for' .... 'oh, actually if its for non standard parts we may be able to help you'... 'unfortunately the amount you need is too much to offer from the roll. :x :x

Any help i would greatly appreciate!

Whilst the Light grey is spot on the dark grey is totally crap. This applies to both martrim & newton.

Newton tell me that the stuff they use is as close as anyone can get now. If it is, then you are scuppered. The colour on the Newton supplied stuff is OK, but the texture is WAY too smooth.

I would suggest you give Martrim a ring & see what they can suggest.

Thank you again Mark, I appreciate your input.

I shall give them a call and see which direction is best to take.

I have been looking for a supplier of the correct dark grey vinyl for years and can confirm that Newton's grain is far too smooth. I cannot understand that if the grain is correct in the other available colours why 'the closest anyone can get' is so poor.

Newton claim that the demand for the Dark Grey vinyl is so minuscule that there is no point in getting it remade.

I am lucky enough to have a stash of the original stuff on a roll, but please don't ask. . . . . this is my own stock for my own jobs.

Just for reference, these are two Newton Samples I have....

I've been in touch with martrim and getting a few of theirs sent to me and see what we can do.

The image above flatters the dark grey, the actual stuff is NOTHING LIKE the original.

Mark, to learn that you have a roll of the stuff lying in your garage has left me feeling deeply unsettled!
