Anyone know these chassis number? Any significance?

AA - 257 29834. It’s on a brass tag stamped riveted to front

My guess is that Swansea got it wrong when they transferred what was handwritten on the old logbook onto the first V5 document. They then insisted that what they had printed on the V5 was "correct" and somebody has stamped a new chassis plate reflecting that mistake :( . I had a similar issue on one of my cars and the DLVA were VERY reluctant to admit that they could possibly be wrong - even though the chassis number made no sense to anybody who understands BMC chassis numbers :x

The transposition of the S for a 5 is the most common typo on Mini logbooks.

It’s stamped on a piece of brass on the top of the front panel under the bonnet near the latch on a brass tag. And once again another brass tag just next to the top of the gearbox hole for the magic wand. Visible under the carpet.

Any photos? is this a UK built car? The chassis number wouldn't be there originally. Is it a replacement front panel? The Austin's had the body number stamped into a spot welded steel tag where you are describing.

Hi, Ive added the files. Im not really certain if its legit, but they look like they are supposed to be there. Maybe more food for the different labelling types
