The original thread is now quite long (viewtopic.php?f=5&t=22215) so here is the condensed version:

The plan is for the run itself to take place on the lovely roads of the Scottish Borders on Sunday 26th May. The route will be shared shortly, but it's ideal for Minis, rest assured.

The run is planned as the counter to Blyton in that it's non competitive, and ideal for drivers and vehicles of all speeds and specs, with the emphasis on a social event which should allow partners etc to get involved if they wish.

As it is the 2nd bank holiday in May, many folks may want to make a weekend of it, so for those who wish, we'll be meeting up in the Tontine Hotel on the main street on the saturday night for a bit of food, chat and the odd tipple. At this time they still have accomodation available if you want to book (do mention the Mk1 mini tour when booking)

I've to confirm or at least give an idea of numbers for those wanting food on the saturday, so if you are coming along, do let me know in advance if you can and I'll let the hotel know. I know Rich looks like Jesus, but I don't want him to have to do that trick with the loaves & fishes.......

Key points - Fun, social, non-competitive, Borders, 'the right crowd, and no crowding' and the odd pothole & sheep!

Oh, and it's free! But we will be rattling buckets for Cancer Research UK

Great minds think alike...…

The Thistle run is on the same day, but elsewhere in the country (still TBC), but it seems Scottishmini.co.uk on facebook have just announced a Borders run 'to start the season', but thankfully it's a month earlier, at the end of April.

Not sure if this is a new event? (EDIT- seems it's a 'Drive it day' run)

Anyhoo, ours will be the most exclusive!

The Scottishmini borders run is definitely a "drive-it day" event - it will be in the vicinity of Moffat and St Mary's Loch.

shame this is the same date as the Thistle-Run or I would have loved to have come on it - this is exactly the kind of event I like doing, and I dare say Mrs T would have come too.
