Ken, some find, your Morris Super looks lovely. My friend has a yellow Austin one in similar condition. I've my money on the Super being the rarest child

Internal tank Mk1 Mini Traveller/Countryman (rather than the later van-type external tank)
This is my brothers 1961 internal tank Morris Mini Traveller restoration:-

The 970 mk1 Cooper S would be very rare. Rumours have them at about 50 surviving. Simon would have a better idea!

One here from the UK....mine!

Jim1071, I think yours is a Super, not a Super deluxe. Much rarer car.

A Super is a Cooper with an 850 engine & drum brakes.

A Super Deluxe is a normal 850 Mini with a few extras like over riders & carpet.

As Mark said - the Super has many of the Cooper specific parts - the brocade interior, trim around the front door windows, boot brackets and boot board. They both also had the roof painted a contrasting colour. The Cooper's had disc brakes and larger capacity engines, but the Super retained the standard drums and 850 engine.

Up until 1961 the mini salon came in Basic and De luxe model options. In 1961 the Super and Cooper were introduced, but in Oct 1962 the Super and De Luxe models were dropped and a new model introduced called the Super Delux. This was closer to the De Luxe spec, with monotone body and roof colours, and lost the brocade interiors.

So the Super was only available for a year, and many have been Cooper'ised over the years due to their close spec to their more powerful sibling, so are fairly rare now.

There are plenty of likely candidates.

My bet would be on the prototype Mokes. Only 2 I reckon.

There are two or three of these around in South Africa.

I was wondering if anyone was going to post cars from other countries. Another South African car would be the Wolseley 1000.

And I would say the early Mini Cooper was a Super with a 997cc engine and disc brakes, not that a Super was a Cooper without the engine and brakes!
