If you don't want total originality then the KAD remote quick shift gear lever might be worth a look as it has no damper.

Thanks for the tip, didn`t know they did this - it would be nice to have another original stick, but to be honest, this will probabley do a better job..

I had an "indoor" rod shift in my 64. I cut and shut the gearlever. Due to a high sulphur content, I had problems with the weld "sticking".

Note this well. Nothing like going into second and the gearstick coming off in your hand!
