Trying to ID gearstick which i let go when sold my 1275S..had, had it for years in my special,parts box. :D

Stick had no rubber damping bewteen stick and nuckle , used to rattle a bit, but was really direct., iused to love it..

Was it a standard part? Tryng to find another one

Any info appreciated :mrgreen:

The non dampened gearstick was standard up to sometime in 64 I think and used the domed gear lever gaiter.

Very difficult to find nowadays .

Here's my early stick from 1962 if this is what you're thinking of.
They were also fitted with a few other different parts compared with the later version.
Unfortunately, not for sale.

Thought remote housing only came in from about 64 though, did it come in before then ?

I was beginning to think it might of been a cut down magic wand

Of course!, thanks for that, so would only find the non- dampened stick on an early Cooper or very early S ?

Yes, pretty much.

You might be lucky and find one in a car someone has converted from wand to remote but I think those days are long gone.

Not sure if you can modify a wand by straightening and shortening it?
