£150 - £200 depending on condition.

New steel ones start at about £250

I have another one....

What’s the going rate, value, for a 1300gt bare block, with caps :?:

I’ve been offered a block that had been freshly bored to 73.5mm (which is the size I’m looking to build) and was fitted into a vehicle to be run in. It was at 1100 to 1200 miles in, when it had a gearbox mainshaft bearing fail. The block was stripped and checked for damage, and was found to have no damage to the cylinder bores.

So sure it needs new cam bearings, a flush of oil ways, some new core plugs ect, and a good check over at the machine shop. This engine was built in the late 80’s for rally use. It has been dry stored since. I’ve had a look over it and it looks perfect to my untrained, numptys eyes.

I’d like some advice please.

If it is a bare block, do you know what pistons it was bored for?

I thought that too, but didn't want to get to analytical about it.

As stated I’m a numpty,

The story is, it was a 1380cc build, bored to 73.5mm.

All I have done is just looked over it and dropped a vernier calliper in the top of the bores and it measured 73.5m just as he said it was. That’s as much as I’ve done.

I don’t know what Pistons it was using?

1300GT blocks will have the big casting hole above the centre main. The Allegro blocks didn't, and you can easily drill and tap the extra 2 holes.
