This has just surfaced two days ago, claiming to be the oldest S about. However according to the DVLA it ought to be blue, never mind the wrong the speedo or switch panel. Nor that it was reregistered in 1982.
Under bonnet shots wouldn't go amiss on this one.

How many will be claimed to be the oldest? Many many moons ago ended up in a private car collection showroom as a mate was buying a Jaguar gearbox from the owner of the collection. He collected first cars off the production line. supposedly Had the first XJS, the first XJ6, a couple of the first few E-types, the first Ford something or other, the first of the three pre-production hand-built Minis, and the first Cooper S. I wasn't convinced though!

Is this not the white S with Rosepetals that was on display XX years ago at a Mini World event at Sandown Park as the earliest car (it was in better condition then) ?

Blimey I remember that, it was 1994, I took some photos that day - will see if I have any of this car. (It sticks in the memory as I drove my mate down in his brown '77 Mini 1000, he'd broken his leg playing Rugby and we took out the front passenger seat so he could recline in the back with his legs stretched out!).

That Broadspeed sticker in the rear window looks like it's from that sort of time period too (the later sales Broadspeed that just used the name)

Looks like the one that was being 'hawked' around by Simon Empson of the new 'Broadspeed' fame in the mid-late '80's, remember he had a price of £100k on it then from memory?
Had a price list from their show room once will have to see if I still have it somewhere.
Regards
Gary
