True but perhaps they then acted in an advisory capacity as they wanted to verify its authenticity. Interestingly Macca's PR Dept. claimed that he couldn't remember owning it as he was photographed sat in/out of so many cars!

I can remember an incident in the 2nd half of the 1960's when being approached by 4 very large guys in a Jaguar, in the East End of London, who showed their Flying Squad Id's to us when we answered back! Hey ho, we were only wanted the Chinese take away. Those were the days. :D

I’ve just HPI’d it. It was made a CAT C in Feb 67 lol
Surely a wealthy Beatle could pay for a reshell with his loose change.

It's highly feasible that the Insurers would have put down for a re-shell
fitting new new shell's was common place all the way up to the 80's , on all cars

As this car would have had a far higher value, than a run of the mill mini is quite likely that a new shell was fitted after the smash.

I just noticed as i re-read the thread, original article says the car was written off ??

So not an Insurance job !

But..... unless the article was written much later, and not hot of the press at the time of the accident, how would the writer know the car was a write off, insurance claims dont happen over night.

Anyway if it was a total loss that means it's worth less

Looks like a (black painted) clip for the swivel visor? Pre reshell then, the date I have is '67. Nidge might be able to date it better just from the length of Macca's moustache!

Having looked at the interior images again i see in the black and white shot, the cant rail and B post are trimmed in black or painted black, in the other colour shot, the cant rail and B post appear to be in body colour.

Further to that the colour shot if you look at the top left you can see the colour of the door aperture is not consistent with the car in question ? .......is it ?

It looks to be a much darker colour, could it be possible this is not GGJ , maybe not even Pauls car.

Colour pic, with back of girls head just visible over his groin, just a passer-by asking for directions I expect as I can't see any other reason why...... Anyway..., the hinged swing-out light to the right of his head, my cop car had one of those in the side rail of the passenger door. Maybe mine came from that car and is now worth a kings ransom. Was that Linda Eastman in the other photo the girl he eventually married, the rabid vegetarian?

I beg your pardon!

That’s not a girls head that’s either a gremlin or an ewok , that’s how far ahead of their time the Beatles were
