Now here is a long shot......
In about 1965-66 I got to know an older Englishman here in NZ. He was mad on motorsport and would get the Autosport Magazine sent from UK.
He would give me copies when he had read them. There was one I had that had a photo on the front cover of a works Cooper S, headlights blazing, with I think John Rhodes at the wheel. The photo was looking at the right front of the car.
What was significant was the caption inside read that the car was travelling from left to right entering a right hand corner. That meant it was in a full drift.
I lean't the copy to a friend and didn't get it back. It really was a mighty photo and would love to have a copy and have it blown up and framed
I dont suppose any of you would know the mag I am talking about, or even have a copy???
Now thats a real long shot....

I couldn't make that link work, but I wonder if this was the pic.

That looks like Mallory Park.

Or possibly Lodge at Oulton when it was painted in the 60's

That’s Rauno at Lodge (Oulton) in 1965 during the RAC, the year he won the rally, first and last Mini to do so and the championship to boot.

I bought the Rauno signed Autosport from ebay a while ago. The cover picture caption reads, European champion Rauno Aaltonen in a hurry with the works Mini-Cooper S around Old Hall, Oulton Park, during the special stage on the RAC rally which he won.

By some freak coincidence, it looks like I've found your Rhodes picture on the cover of another Autosport from October 1968. The cover picture caption reads,

John Rhodes grimaces as he hurls his works Mini-Cooper S sideways through Becketts, headlights blazing. His angle of tweak will become clear when it is pointed out that he is travelling from left to right of the picture, negotiating a right-hand bend, and the picture was taken from the inside of the corner!

I'm guessing this is the cover you remember?

I think the scribe was looking at the facade behind, but it's actually called Lodge, Old Hall is the next right hander!

Yes, that was the image I linked to.

I just Googled "auto sport magazine 1965" and clicked on images. Lots of cover pages come up.
