Post subject:  advice asked regards 40 year car into dvla historic status.

My GT is 40 years UK registered this month with current tax to September & MOT :?: whats the best way to transfer the car onto DVLA historic status .. i would then like to Tax & use use the car all year.

I sorted mine at the post office when taxing the car, the log book was then returned with correct status.

Correct. Fill out your V5C with the change to taxation class, if you intend to declare MOT exempt status you will also need to fill out a V112. Give these to the PO. DVLA will issue a new V5C and will also refund any road tax you have paid if you taxed the car recently. I think it took about 5 weeks for my new V5C to appear and a couple more for the cheque to arrive. You can still drive the car legally while the application is being processed.
