Was all the extra weight of the mini spares broom handle on the roof rack dragging the car to the right? They seem to have balanced things out by removing the exhaust and lashing it to the left side...

Oh and it looks like the mini has found a friend; I didn't think there could possibly be a less suitable choice than a mini for the terrain, then along comes a Triumph Herald :)

Good to see they are back on track. Tajikistan next.

Tajikistan - love the roof camping contraption. Glad to see the mini spares broom handle tick another country off its list.

There have been several FB updates from the rally in the last few days, but worryingly no recent sighting of the mini spares broom handle.

In other news, the radiator blew in Kazakhstan and it's now running on a mix of hopes, prayers and radweld.

Meanwhile in this episode of Wacky Races, we rejoin the Herald which is a couple of days behind the mini, due to failure to advance in kyrgyzstan (drive shaft replaced), running on two cylinders at altitude (HT lead breakdown) and now road flooding (Dastardly and Mutley?)

i did always worry about this, when you lord it over poorer people with fancy gadgets, and leave those gadgets openly on display, well, temptation is a difficult thing to overcome when you have so little...

my broomstick is probably now considered to be some sort of talismen by a village chief, or something like that....

Do they have a photo of you, the man who gifted them this enchanted staff, with them?

This could account for locals assuming some sort of druid connection?

It's a thought.
