Mini spares broom handle sighted in Kazakhstan.

Photo: Repairs for sheared left-rear brake pipe, drove 300km on handbrake and engine braking (last 100km with a police escort so they didn't have to slow for traffic!)

Do they have a photo of you, the man who gifted them this enchanted staff, with them?

This could account for locals assuming some sort of druid connection?

It's a thought.

can you imagine that happening in this country?

I am in awe of these folks having such a great adventure & really doing well too. I heard (from Adam on FB) that they were asking for spares to be posted out to them, a headlight a rad & a few other bits I believe, I hope they get them soon.

I've mostly been following in the travels of the broom handle :), so not reposting everything... but for sure they are living through some great stories - here's a copy of the latest antics for those not on Facebook.

This is a brilliant story & a real antidote to those people who only see bad in folks.

It's amazing how many people will help a stranger when they really need it.

Mini spares broom handle spotted in Russia !

Other news: Headlight replaced (with one from a Lada), and the exhaust fell off - again - 400km ago.

I reckon they'll be into Mongolia in a day or so. Then the end of metalled roads...

Nearly 1300 miles in 42 hours straight, driving through the night across Russia to try and catch up with the Herald &c. (Entry visa delays held them back from the group by a couple of days)

Overheating, exhaust ripped off again, and a fuel/ignition problem (maybe all that red dust?) but they're back on track. Good effort.

A reminder this is for charity, please donate if you are enjoying their antics.

I don't want to tempt fate, but it really looks like they are going to make it!

What a fantastic adventure.
