What a great story for all concerned - what luck you were there ;-)

My oli cooler is off at the moment so if you want pics (some good ones on here already though) let me know ;-)

Oil coolers were still optional in '64,so the Heritage certificate should be correct - although they were sometimes fitted afterwards at the dealership

What a cracking buy!

Re gearbox, it could be either, most likely a 333 but this would be determined by build date. An oil cooler would not be standard & if it's not listed on the Heritage cert then it is highly unlikely.

Can't beat "Right place, right time".

Snap!
Got one like that, same colour. I'm a huge fan of the 970S. Mines an August '64, no oil cooler. Loses a bit of oil pressure at a sustained 80 mph or so, but I think they all did, and it comes back when being more sensible.
Yours looks a great example.Well done on the find.

That's interesting Bryan...my green/white 970 has the 333 X box....very late Aug build...couple of days from being Sept car. Oil cooler, 4.5 rims and the extra RH tank all stated on the heritage certificate.

Mine was an August 13th build date, so we are pinning down the changeover date for the box - or maybe not given the random nature of all things bmc.
Yours has a great build spec 360gts- extra tank and rims too. Very nice .
