I'm looking at some insurance quotes for my modified Traveller and had a good value one from RH however it doesn't include track days.
Do you guys purchase separate insurance for the events like Blyton etc or does it not matter as it's non-competitive ( ) ?

I cant see myself doing many but would love to drive round Blyton track next year...

Practically ALL insurance policies for road legal vehicles specifically exclude any sort of competition, including track days. You will struggle to find one that includes this type of cover.

Speaking for myself I have never bothered insuring cars for competition or track days, having implicit belief in my luck & driving skill I have never felt I needed to.

You can however purchase specific policies for this type of event, I have no idea who does them, but would imagine that the premium is quite high.

Calculated on the basis that if you are looking for a quote, either you are the sort who would buy it, or the sort who thinks they may need it, so I think you are probably right!

It hadn’t even crossed my mind until the bloke said said it included non-competitive track days and when I queried it they checked with the underwriter and turns out he was talking bollocks

I like Mark’s approach and am not generally the cautious type unless there’s asbestos around!

Not sure about all classic policies but my insurance on another car with the rs owners club included trackday cover at club events, pretty sure can add other events if required usually trackday cover only includes damage to your own car not the car you hit, they are usually required to pay for their own, I remember a dispute with the owners club insurance with an accident on a parade lap and they wouldn’t pay out for the car hit.

These have always been good with us for the rally car and do trackday cover.

I use David Auden - competition cover and not much more than normal road insurance.
