Just received my V5 and its not showing previous owners details due to data protection :x :x

All it shows is how many owner the cars had , no dates etc

Such a shame we are not able to trace the previous owners anymore , It was always nice to see now long the previous owners had owned the car for and to see if they had any history on the vehicle

Getting a bit out of hand now all the regulations, I doubt it will stop all the nuisance calls and spam emails though.

That's the bit that annoys me about all this DPA bullshit, it wont actually stop anything its supposed to do, as the crooks always find a way round. All it does is spoil things for the honest people.

I am wondering if the traditional private phone directory will now be a thing of the past. Usually you have to request to be ex-directory but now, will you have to opt in ??

I (don't) like the bit which says ''We also provide information where the law allows it.'' So, unless it is prohibited by law, how does anyone know who is getting this info? Or does it mean 'where the law requires it'?

And some of the early information may never have been computerised, so the DP Act may not apply.
