Absolutely. Asthmatic 850s and their wheezier owners welcome!

I'm sure a few will want a more 'spirited' drive, of course, and that's fine (within speed limits and road conditions, obviously!) but the aim is very much a flip side to the Blyton event, for all comers in all specs of cars

CORRECT!

This is a gentle tour round the borders with an emphasis on good company & beautiful scenery. NOT a competitive type event.

Hi Folks,

Regarding accommodation / Saturday get together, I have spoken with the Tontine Hotel (www.tontinehotel.com) which is on the main street in Peebles, and they currently have twin, doubles and single rooms available that weekend and can accommodate us for a bar supper on the Saturday night.

Standard Double/Twin would be £220 for the weekend (based on 2 people sharing) and single rooms would be £130 for the two nights. (Both of these rates would be based on their bed and breakfast rate)

sample menu : https://www.tontinehotel.com/wp-content ... u-0918.pdf

They have private parking for guests, (though I don't think it is under cover)

As it's the bank holiday weekend, If you would like accommodation at the Tontine, I'd suggest booking soon. When booking please mention that you are part of the Mk1 mini road tour.

If you want to eat there on the Saturday (whether staying there or not) let me know and I'll liaise with them to give them an idea of numbers to expect.

As I've said previously, this is just a suggestion as I'm sure many might like to stay together, but Peebles has a large number of hotels, B&Bs, Airbnbs and campsites, so plenty to suit all tastes, budgets and preferences, and none should be too far from the planned meeting point on the Sunday morning.

Regards,

Al

Cheers Al,

I'm looking forward to this one. God knows if I'll have a Mini or not though :)

In answer to a couple of queries received, here is how I sort of imagine the tour will work (copied from my response)

"Plan is for a social get together on the Saturday night for those who want to, or who have travelled up on the Saturday,

Sunday is the run itself, I'm thinking it'll be a meet up at about 9.30 - 10.00 with folk setting off from 10.30ish setting their own pace in groups

It's hard to predict how much folk will see of each other during the event as it is up to people how often they stop and how long for, how gentle they take it etc. That'll be a bit "suck it & see" on the day

Then those who are staying over night on the Sunday can meet up in Peebles for another get together if they wish"

The Forster's & 2 cars are booked for the weekend.

I can't wait for this one.
