after some help/ suggestions, can anyone solve this problem on 1964 mk 1. the offside handbrake cable has decided to touch the inside wall of tyre, tyre is strait. nearside cable is about half inch away. all bearings on the radius appear to be ok, i e no play.no apparent damage to be seen, at loss with this .anything else, help mot due soon, thanks steve

Add a thin spacer each side? Was a BMC mod at one stage to clear the shockers.

Or space the hand brake bracket in a bit until the cable clears.

I would do as is suggested above, space the hand brake cable holder off the back plate a bit using spacers & longer bolts.

Yes. I did just this, bounced a rear wheel off a kerb at speed and bent the radius arm.

thanks for the comments, have sorted ,due retest Wednesday. handbrake rear bracket replaced with a 61 spare-slightly bigger clearance pushing cable away from wheel, plus added couple washers helped . finally added a couple of washers to the inside of the wheel to face of the drum. this has given sufficient clearance, but the initial cause is still a mystery. cheers steve :D
