3 1/2" rims are MUCH more difficult to find than 4 1/2" rims Cabrio. Not that I was around at the time, but I'm told that everyone used to throw away the factory supplied 3 1\2" rims and put on different wheels, 'back' in the day.

I picked up an almost mint set of 5 LP882's for £150 last year on eBay BUT that was a BARGAIN. Usually you are looking at £100 a wheel, sometimes more depending on condition. LP883's are much more common but will still fetch a good premium, but not as much as the 882's, in general.

Great to get a bargain. I bought a set of 3.5" from a chap close to me. He's not really up on the finer details of Minis or what parts are relly worth, but he told me at a show he had a set of Mini steelies with new tyres if I was interested. I was looking 3.5" for the rear of the autotest Mini so went to get them from him. Said he needed £120 including the tyres so there was a bargain straight out of the box. When I called to collect them there were 4 fully refurbished original LP882s shod with new rubber!! I told him I needed to give him more for them but he wouldn't hear of it. Tried to make him take more but he still refused. I did eventually give him 3 £50 notes. I don't know where he got them from but he said he was making profit on what I was giving him so someone must've really given them away cheap.

Now that's a real bargain !!

Hi, are they all Dunlop LP883 wheels? Where are you based? I am near Worcester.

While we're here, what about those early wheels we used to see a lot of around here, presumably from the back gates of Comps or ST. All OE white, some with no facility to attach hub caps and others with little lugs welded on to accept hub caps. Do that carry any specific LP/Dunlop code? I have a couple without any hub cap lugs so presumably very early

The early 3.5" S rims had a lug welded on to accept the hub caps.

No doubt many came out of the 'back door' without the lug.
