I am searching for the knob, 21A907, for the hand brake lever in order to replace mine--severely "checked" / surface cracks.

Does any one make them?

Have checked the suppliers and no luck.

If, replaceable, how do you remove the knob?

Thanks.

Jim

They just push on, we made some out of aluminium round bar with a small a small grub screw in the side to hold them on.
no pics sorry!

Thanks for the reply.

I would prefer to obtain an original or an original looking knob.

If they push on, are there threads or serrations to hold the knob on the rod?

If the knob is removed, could it be re-installed without damage?

Could be painted?

Thanks.

Jim

You can see that I'm a big fan of self help. Just looked through the parts list and surely that little knob thinggy could be turned up from a bar of white nylon. Or turn up 10 of them and sell the rest on!

In Oz at least, the white knob is threaded and screws on. I too have a mangled one but can't remove the good one (without mangling it!) off a spare handbrake lever to replace it.
I mangled the original one getting it off so I could fit the "fly off" handbrake kit.. (useful anti theft device). It was on very tight..

Are you asking about the button on the end of the lever or the grip around lever?

I will have a measure up of the thread in the morning as I've got a twin cable lever down the shed with a real dodgy chrome button which screwed of when I tried through curiosity when I aquired it a couple of years ago .
I seem to remember it's a real coarse thread

I want to replace the off white plastic knob on the end of the hand brake lever.

The knob has surface cracks.

Beatie, I would appreciate knowing the threads on the actuation rod.

After knowing the thread size, maybe with padded pliers, the knob could be removed without damage or breaking it.

As Peter has said, possibly make a new one(s) out of nylon.

Thanks for the help.

Jim

By the look of it , it's a 2BA thread .
I cannot get the nibs of my verniers in to measure as it's inside a bit to far but a 2BA tap winds in nice and snug.
Hope this helps
Jeremy

Just for the record I've also got single cable levers which ive just looked at and they are not threaded but are an interface fit on the rod .
If you need a nice new shiney knob  and cannot find them then let me know as I could knock one up for you in either white plastic or 316 shiney stainless
Cheers
Jeremy
