Am I correct in assuming that the Mini changed from a steel bowl/Canister to Alloy with the introduction of the oil filter warning light. (approx. Aug. 64)
Think I may have caused some confusion with my description....
So, I was referring to the filter housing or canister...hope that clarifies my question somewhat!

Only recall alloy cannisters on my 'D' reg 66 and both 69 S's

But while we're talking oil filters and oil filter warning lights....... I recall in my December 69 Cooper that there was a stick-in slip in the user handbook that mentioned something to the effect that the warning light wasn't fitted. But the warning bulb was still in place as was the wiring to the filter housing. But the female lucar connection was taped back onto the loom. The strange thing was that the male lucar spade was still fitted to the filter housing. So I had the stick-in message, a wire that wasn't connected but when I joined the connectors it was all back to how it should be! Anyone else aware of this other example of 69 style example of BL stupidity?

I reckon 1071Bob will be able to answer this Dermott as I was tasked with finding him a steel bowl recently ;)
