Someone already tried to contact the IMM organization directly?

I'll be there as a visitor, but if someone need some help, I'll try to do my best. I know 2 guys who are part of the organization and I can make a call.

Every IMM is organised by a new team of volunteers who have probably never been involved such a big project in their lives. What with insurance, licences, method statements, H &B S policies etc .. the bureaucracy is endless.

Professionals in these disciplines are probably essential on the team nowadays, esp in the UK. (One reason why many events have fallen by the wayside).

I expect the organisers are only now beginning to realise the enormity of their commitment, especially financially.

Its a pity that experience from previous IMMs can't be better used.

Personally I find the booking procedure unnecessarily complex as is the actual entry process on the IMM site - memories of Kent here.

I remember the Gaydon IMM run by the Moke Club - some of whose members suffered near breakdowns from the worry.

boa sorte portugal

Good to see some of you will be there.
Look out for a Peninne Pullman folding camper with a Spanish number plate on it. There will be cold beer in the fridge!
're. getting in touch with Portugal imm. I made a mistake when booking. Sent them 3 emails and got no response. My daughter contacted them, I think through their Facebook page, and got a response very quickly. Try that.

As one of the two who originally started the ball rolling for IMM 2017 to be held in Ireland I can sympathise with the Portuguese in all that they are going through in hosting an IMM.Hosting an IMM is a huge undertaking and we were very lucky with the team we had to pull off the event as it was.An event of this size needs professional help and we were very lucky that we had a professional event organizer as a Club member who looked after the ticketing and scanning attendees onto the site,we had a member who was a rep for a large hire company who looked after all the facilities and we had another member who was clerk of the course on many rallys and he was site manager and laid out the site.Security was also taken care of by a member who had a background in that field so it really helped that we had that expertise to fall back on which is vital for a successful IMM.
The problem with hosting an IMM is the lack of information and this is something we would like to address in the future. We were lucky that the Belgians who hosted IMM 2016 were very open to us with information on their IMM and we feel that for IMM's in the future this is the way forward to keep them going in their current guise and also to help future host Clubs and would be hosts to know what they are attempting to undertake.
We were also very lucky that we managed to attract a large number of traders and this is all thanks to Jocelyn who worked extremely hard to meet all the traders needs and work with them to make them happy.Traders are a very tricky thing to get right as they really make for a successful IMM as more traders attract more attendees but you need attendee numbers to attract traders(chicken and egg) but we also want to make sure they a great IMM trade wise and finding a happy ground to find a price for a pitch is a minefield and this is where information sharing would benefit everyone.
Aside for the problems of moving site due to circumtances outside our control our organising committee all remain good friends and we have shared a good few drinks together since then and we consider it to be the highlight of our Mini lives which bucks the trend of a lot of IMM's and I think that is down to the way we split up the tasks and who we were lucky to have fill those positions
Another reason we all stayed friends and it can be a dirty word in IMM's is money. We have always stated that we will publish a full set of accounts for a couple of reasons,to show how much an IMM costs to run,to show where the money was spent and to give future hosts an idea of what they are getting into.We hope to have the company wound up before Portugal and give a full account otherwise it will be as much of an account as we.And if anyone is wondering what IMM 2017 cost,it was originally costed at 130,000 euro and we ended up spending north of 240,000.All funded through tickets sales and sponsorship and all vendors, suppliers and floor repairs paid for in full :D and over 13,000 euro given to charities local to the committee members who came from all over Ireland. Our aim was never to make a ton of money but have the best IMM we could and spend more as more money came in and I think we achieved that.
Would I do it again, yes but give me about 10 years :D :D

Yes - I am going spending 4 nights in Vilamoura and then 3 nights in Hotel Cristal Vieira Praia & Spa from the 17 May. Just south of the venue. Let me know if anyone else is staying near by.

I will be flying the flag for the MCR South West. David
