It is almost certain to be a Super. The chassis number is seven digits following a large batch of export Cowley-built cars. They were all painted red/black. Sometimes the occasional chassis number slips through the records, so it is quite possible it is the case with this car, especially being so close to a batch of Supers and having boot-board brackets.

so the VIN is still the same for super based on the above Austin Saloon A-A2S7-228926

I’d have thought an Austin built at Cowley would have the ‘non default factory’ suffix letter too ?

Yes, it would have on the chassis plate but the number stamped on the body would not have prefix or suffix.

Sorry, just noticed earlier post regarding Archive details. I do have details of Supers not recorded as such in the factory ledgers. This may or may not be one, it seems to much detail is missing to be sure. But it is very close to a batch of Supers and as it has the boot-board brackets...

you can see where the rivits were in the boot

also snap in carpets

you can where they covered over the wand opening with a piece of aluminum
remote shifter
I saw another super with remote shift

Simon says its April 1962 ,,,,

mine is a left hand drive

so I now thinks its A/A2S7LS 228926

thanks for your help
