Polarsilver: "

Mark .. please also become the supply of repro Lucas 608 Mirrors and make your fortune!

Somebody has already cornered that market:

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/LUCAS-608-MI ... 2818646082

LUCAS never made a 608 mirror without the word "LUCAS" on the back of it...

Quite a lot of crossover with Morris Minor components and the early Mk1 Mini's so it's always worth looking there - The mirror bracket itself is the same as well. Given it's the default finish on these mirrors it's a shame suppliers don't also arrange to have the black crackle finish applied as it's far easier to apply as a batch in a controlled environment and with proper spray kit, than trying to apply using an expensive temperamental aerosol in a home garage.

We discussed heater trunking and demister hose suppliers a while back and the results were inconclusive on the later. I happened to be in Bristol on Friday and on a whim dropped into Charles Wares Morris Minors. Chap there very helpful and invited me into the warehouse area to look at the stock. The demister hose they stock is indeed 1¼" internal diameter so it will fit Mk1 Mini's. The concertina is slightly more 'dense' than the originals but on the plus side the internal diameter is smooth so the air flow is less disrupted. I've got a sample so will post a photo of the two side by side when I get a chance but I'm sure it will work and the slight difference in appearance won't matter as it's out of sight. Appreciate most will only need to replace these after a few too many ends have been 'tidied up' and they are now too short to reach but as originals are 50+ years old that may now affect quite a few. Here is the listing :

The larger diameter trunking from the front into the car will also fit a Mini and is cheaper than the alternatives at £30.60 but is a bit too glossy to look right IMO but may dull down in time. It's the correct coiled spring type structure inside a thin skin and is supplied in 50" lengths which is 5" longer than required but is easily cut :

Just wanted to point out that this hose is not rubber covered (vinyl)...yes, would work...there are many suppliers of this particular product.

Yes. I have that trunk in my Cooper S. I bead blasted it so now it has the right patina.

Just measured the mirror ( evetsure part no.M880 ) which belongs to my Nov 64 and reckon it's a lot nearer 62 than 61 .
Would expect the drawing at the time to be more like 5.000 x 2.450

I bought a NOS Mk1 mirror and stalk from here a few years ago. Not a place you would think to look but they had a lot of decent NOS stuff listed at the time.

I received my mirror glass this morning.

Close but no cigar.

Good points:
Correct Dimensions, correct thickness, edges nicely ground.

Bad points:
No tint to glass, no black crackle backing

OK, but not correct.
