Hi,

I am considering selling my long term project.
Not sure what it's worth in it's current condition.

It's a 66 shell in Island Blue. (The car was originally red)
It had a complete floor from a later mini, before I bought the car. It is solid where it counts, sills, boot floor, floor etc are all good. Doors are OK. It does need a few localized repairs and a general spruce up. It is by no means a basket case.

It has Cooper S 7.5 inch disks and has been fitted with a right hand tank (I think it's probably a minis spares copy)
It has been converted to dry with Hi Lo suspension units. Its got 4 4.5 inch Mini lites.

It had a complete new wiring loom 10 years ago, with a conversion for an alternator

Seats are green, with green door cards and rear quarters. Head lining has been replaced with a newton commercial one.

It's got an after market steering wheel, but I do have an original one that would go with it.

I have the V5c in my name.

Any clue what sort of money to ask for something like this?

Pictures speak a 1000 words on things like this, without them, any ideas are going to be nothing but an ill informed guess.

Details of the engine size / spec will make huge a difference to

Also, you describe it as a project - is it in bits, or on the road?

I must stress the car is NOT for sale at this time.
IF i do decide to sell it I will put it into the sales area, with a price and my location and a contact number.
I am just trying to get a handle on what it might be worth as it is.
To be honest I am thinking of shifting to something a little less commercially valuable.

Difficult to give a value, it’s a bit of a bitsa so it’s not going to appeal to all. Assuming it’s properly solid and it’s only really round that rear screen that requires substantial effort then it’s imho somewhere between 3&5k depending on just how much grot there is.

Thanks Dr S.

That kind of confirms what I had thought.

The worst part of the car is below the rear window.

It was a very tidy shell when I bought it, but being a mini of course things have gradually deteriorated.

It's going to need a couple of other patch repairs, but nothing much considering the age of the shell. It's all cosmetic rather than structural.

It needs some work, but there are an awful lot of cars out there that look nicer on the surface but would need a lot more work to sort out.

I've come to the conclusion that at least I know where I am with it.

Sometimes it's better the devil you know!

I am just going to have to get my act together and put some time into getting it done.

Besides if I sell it I doubt I would ever be able to get back into mk1's even at a bitsa level. Some of the prices are nuts now.

I sold ASBO, a 66 Morris with lots of race bits and rare bits a few years ago for £5k. I threw it away. The paint was a bit sad, but the shell was pretty good.

Sadly, it became a Cooper S reshell for a race car. Sad really.

£5k is not a lot of money and in hindsight, I'd need at least £10k for anything like it now and £10k for an old mini? You can get an Audi RS4 for that now.

Do not regret punting it out for what will probably be not very much money, in the grand scheme of things. I bought a load of geological kit for work, a load of books and pretty much wasted the rest.
