I am out of my depth discussing elsewhere the inspiration leading John Cooper to approach Issigonis/ Harriman about putting a 997 engine into an 850 Mini.
There seem to be a number of engines.
997 production engines
Formula Junior engines

And a number of 'actors'
John Cooper
Issigonis/ Harriman
Geoffrey Healey
Jack Brabham
Bruce McLaren

I have read on Facebook that Brabham and McLaren were involved with Cooper solely to put FJ engines into their own Minis and that Geoffrey Healey claimed that he suggested to John Cooper to put the car into production (and may have approached the BMC Board on his behalf. (3rd party comment)).

An explanation confirming these events would be much appreciated.
