"I always felt Bluebird was a grave, and it should have been left as such in the depths of Coniston".

I totally agree, I also think that the guy running the project is an egomaniac, but that said the people involved have done a fantastic job & to see K7 up on her planing shoes again is a sight to behold.

I don’t think he has many fans left. Let’s hope the boat makes it to the museum in one piece!

That'll be the hat he wore when he first dragged it out of the lake, which came across as pretty inappropriate attire I thought at the time. As is his grin!! Somebody died in that

It's mind boggling what's been achieved here.

I agree that the guy comes over as an egotist but, credit where credit is due, this would not have happened were it not for that ego. It might be further argued that K7 only existed for similar reasons.

That being said I would also have preferred it to have remained at the bottom of the lake in memory of the great man. That grainy footage from my childhood is so haunting - I recall it like it was yesterday.

Who is the pilot of the K7 on the water please?

Been looking but I cannot seem to find who it is.

Stu Campbell (no relation) is No 2. (Former RAF Pilot & member of the Red Arrows)

Nice photo of Bluebird back in January 1955, going over Skerton Bridge in Lancaster, presumably heading up to Coniston.

Skerton bridge has its own history too, it was the first 'flat span' road bridge in England.
